When using a fire extinguisher, the nozzle should always be aimed at the base of the flames. This is the correct method because it's the fuel at the bottom or base of the fire that is actually burning. By directing the extinguishing agent (from the fire extinguisher) at the base of the fire, you efficiently cut off the fire's fuel source which thus extinguishes the flames. Focusing on the flames directly or on top of them won't be as effective, as these parts are not the source of the fire. This is a critical strategy in effectively combating smaller fires with a fire extinguisher. Therefore, the right choice is to always aim the nozzle at the base of the flames.
